Treatments
Back Pain & Sciatica
Chiropractic treatment is proven to be effective in the treatment of Back Pain and Sciatica. Studies commissioned into the effectiveness of Manipulation (of the type performed by Chiropractors) in combination with exercise in the treatment of back pain have been found to be a highly effective method of treatment.
So much so, the Chiropractic profession is increasingly becoming commissioned to deliver care to Back Pain patients via the NHS. Dynamic Chiropractic is currently in consultation with three commissioning groups in preparation for providing an NHS service in Manchester, Cheshire and the surrounding area.
Foot & Ankle Complaints
Chiropractic treatment is effective in the treatment of joint pain including foot and ankle complaints. Assessment of your gait (walking pattern) will form a routine part of your Chiropractor's assessment. Included in that assessment, your Chiropractor will look for signs of fallen arches (hyper pronation) and other bio mechanical problems that might be affecting other parts of your body, E.g. Back pain.
Where indicated foot and ankle complaints can be treated by your Chiropractor or a referral to our Chiropodist & Podiatrist may be indicated. Sometimes prescription insoles (orthotics) are required to assist in the management of foot and ankle complaints and the effects this may have on other parts of the body. In other cases localised muscle and joint pain in the foot and ankle can be effectively treated with manipulation or appropriate soft tissue treatments.
Dynamic Chiropractic's work with athletes often requires a multi-disciplinary approach to foot and ankle and lower limb aches and pains. So a referral to an experienced Physiotherapist, Podiatrist or Sports Physician may be neccessary to work in conjunction with your Chiropractic treatment.
Tension, Muscle Spasms & Cramp
Your Chiropractor may use a number of techniques to treat your aches and pains including Tension, Muscle Spasms and Cramp. Sometimes the muscle spasms associated with, for example, back and neck pain require spinal manipulation, deep tissue massage or trigger point therapy to help reduce the limited mobility you may be experiencing.
On other occasions the tension associated with physical or emotional stress may have an influence on your condition. Your Chiropractor will advise you on ways to reduce your muscle tension by way of improving your posture, ergonomics and exercise routine. Where appropriate and with your permission, your Chiropractor will liaise with other health professionals in the management of more generalised emotional tension.
More directly Chiropractic spinal manipulation has been shown to be effective in reducing some forms of muscle spasm, tension or cramp.
Hip & Knee Pain from Osteoarthritis
Hip and Knee pain can be symptoms of low back and pelvic dysfunction, Osteoarthritis, direct trauma or secondary to foot and ankle complaints by way of mechanical compensation.
Your Chiropractor is trained to diagnose the cause of your Hip or Knee pain and then select the most appropriate form of treatment to improve your range of motion, reduce pain and allow you to return to activities. Studies into the effectiveness of Chiropractic treatment for patients with hip or knee osteoarthritis have found significant benefits can be achieved.
Prevention of Migraine
Research into Chiropractic treatment have concluded that Chiropractic is effective in the prevention of some forms of Migraine. Your Chiropractor will conduct a detailed orthopaedic and neurological examination in order to assess the cause of your Migraines. Some Migraines are caused by nerve interference usually occurring at the top of the neck.
Sometimes a patient's medical history will include a neck trauma event (e.g. in motor vehicle collisions), although chronic postural strain, (e.g. in patients who work at a computer or are required to engage in prolonged driving), may be factors involved in Migraine causation. Many factors will be considered including your past medical history, medication, postural and ergonomic influences and any history of injury.
Your Chiropractor is trained to diagnose the cause of your Migraines and will select the most appropriate treatment for you.
Joint Pain
Chiropractors are experts in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of joint pain. It is a common misconception that Chiropractors just treat backs.
Chiropractic treatment is appropriate for a wide range of aches and pains including joint pain anywhere in the body.
Neck Pain & related Headaches
Neck pain has a number of origins. For example: motor vehicle collisions involving whiplash injuries, postural and ergonomic strain/sprains from computer and desk based work, prolonged driving, sporting injuries and physical and emotional stress.
Sometimes inflammation and muscle tension in the neck can trigger headaches (known as cervicogenic headaches). Chiropractors are highly trained in the examination and diagnosis of neck pain and related headaches.
Shoulder & Elbow pain
Your Chiropractor at Dynamic Chiropractic will use a number of recognised orthopaedic and neurological tests to diagnose the cause of your shoulder or elbow problem.
Your Chiropractor will then make use of a number of different treatment techniques to reduce your shoulder or elbow pain and improve function as quickly as possible.
What Treatment Involves
Chiropractic Adjustment
This is a gentle, but specific movement of a joint which your Chiropractor makes by hand. The technique your Chiropractor will use depends on many factors.

A Chiropractic Adjustment can vary from a rapid but controlled movement to a sustained light pressure.
Sometimes a small 'click' can be heard. This is the joint fluid releasing pressure into the joint space and is painless.
Soft Tissue Treatment
Many aches and pains are caused by Muscle, Ligament or Tendon problems (the soft tissues).
At Dynamic Chiropractic our Chiropractors will use a number of soft tissue treatment methods to reduce muscle spasms, ligament inflammation or tendon injuries.
Sometimes muscles become weak around an inflamed or painful joint. In these cases your Chiropractor will prescribe a 'tailor made' exercise programme to help restore strength and prevent future problems.
Chiropractic Advice
One of the most important components of your treatment programme is the advice given on exercise, stretching, posture, ergonomics and diet.
All these factors are very important in the total care of your complaint.
Dynamic Chiropractic is highly recommended by its' patients and GPs.
The clinic is proud of its professional and caring reputation and will look after you at every step of the way with your recovery.
